<br />
it`s a while ago that you were able to fetch any news from here. And there`s a quiet simple reason for. Some weeks ago we scouted for 1-2 additional members for the egghat to be able to feed you with even more news. Out of this idea we`ve gathered 3 other people interested in this. Instead of simply adding them we deceided to start all oevr with a new blog. <br />
<br />
Your profit? A semi-professional design, a bunch of tutorials, more news and everything else that sticks together with some more people on a blog!<br />
<br />
You are invited to follow our further actions on the new blog:<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://5-th-dimension.blogspot.com/"><span style="font-size: x-large;">5th Dimension</span></a></div><br />
It makes me a bit sad to leave the egghat behind me, so much efford invested to this one. But hey, it`s always going on, isn´t it?<br />
<br />
So click <a href="http://5-th-dimension.blogspot.com/">here</a> to see the new one. Make us happy by following us there.<br />

A short WIP reportIt seems like the days went by really fast the closer the GD-Event is coming. Most of you will know that those days are full of preparataionwork and final touches. Maybe a last, really fast project to get another entry. And maybe days full of stress just because you re not in time with your latest project. That`s what happened to me. But I try to keep it cool. It`s my first GD ever and my entry should be a mini which I could be proud of. so no rushing, no half painted places or a bad basework. <br />
<br />
Today I want to share my current progress on my ork sqwadron commander. There`s not much what happened, but I am satisfied with the result so far. Not every area is finished there, so don`t worry about bad blendings right now (walkie talkie arm; trouser...).<br />

<br />
As I don`t have written this on my own I want to please you to take notice that this tutorial was written by <strong>Giovanni Azzara</strong>. You can find his blog here:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://giovannimodelling.blogspot.com/">http://giovannimodelling.blogspot.com/</a><br />
<br />
<br />
And here`s the tutorial, simply used copy and paste:<br />
<br />
Dear all,<br />
<br />
This is an article I was thinking of doing for quite sometime now.<br />
<br />
Is a simple explanation on how to make great pictures of our models, without any special or (too) expensive asset.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOiBYlNxqAlsDHxjr51f-me8rGV-k_bxDeWqfQ5CdflscNk2qmIP7LWLat7kfSQ5BPgOZn_wAshM34d-2PHjfwrDE6OXK7CbL8h87gh7baP3lTTuUcdU4M-_79xpMC7aE6lb8PV4eoJDW0/s1600/DSCN1303.JPG"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5531935898048007202" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOiBYlNxqAlsDHxjr51f-me8rGV-k_bxDeWqfQ5CdflscNk2qmIP7LWLat7kfSQ5BPgOZn_wAshM34d-2PHjfwrDE6OXK7CbL8h87gh7baP3lTTuUcdU4M-_79xpMC7aE6lb8PV4eoJDW0/s320/DSCN1303.JPG" style="cursor: hand; height: 240px; width: 320px;" /></a><br />
<br />
<br />
Here is what we need:<br />
<br />
A digital camera that must have the manual White Balance setting and maybe a macro lens/capability.<br />
<br />
A tripod<br />
<br />
2 table lamps, (you can use the one you work on your models)<br />
<br />
2 smaller lamp<br />
<br />
oven paper<br />
<br />
background paper (A3/A2 coloured bristol paper are perfect)<br />
<br />
a white sheet of paper<br />
<br />
a room with all your lights off except the one above<br />
<br />
Place the camera on the tripod.<br />
<br />
Let's start with the camera settings: try to use the higher stop from f.18 to higher, let the camera decide the exposure time, with your tripod it won't be a problem.<br />
<br />
Now, check the user manual of your camera and check how to measure and set up manually the White Balance.<br />
<br />
The concept is that different bulbs or environment have different light temperatures, where human eye can understand and judge the white under different lights sources for the digital camera is not the same. White balance (WB) is the process of removing unrealistic colour casts, so that objects which appear white in person are rendered white in your photo. I've found a better explanation here: http://www.cambridgeincolour.com/tutorials/white-balance.htm<br />
<br />
Usually, you need to go in your settings menu, look for White Balance>manual settings; switch on the lights you will use to take the pictures, place the white piece of paper under the lights and take a picture of it while in the WB menu, the camera will elaborate and your white balance should be now set. Anyway, check your camera user manual.<br />
<br />
Trust me, this step will improve your pictures dramatically!<br />
<br />
Ok, let’s set up the stage:<br />
<br />
Place the A3/A2 bristol paper of the colour you like (avoid to use the same colour of the subject i.e. if the uniform is red, avoid a red background..) try to make a soft bend when rest on the table, something like the drawing below (Sorry I’m not Leonardo…)<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlnqllCt1uCbhbzDMqNF7l4YYT2nRoehMuyX-z9HZYb2Q_b_P83mdCnaydc7PjDy5rO0_AeIO4BdftwazKu69kxS49tlbKMGDu4gK9-A7UtbSkjj8N_XGhP38Ptcn20eJpL3TZ1xZsMZTr/s1600/background+set+up.jpg"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5531932385802456034" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlnqllCt1uCbhbzDMqNF7l4YYT2nRoehMuyX-z9HZYb2Q_b_P83mdCnaydc7PjDy5rO0_AeIO4BdftwazKu69kxS49tlbKMGDu4gK9-A7UtbSkjj8N_XGhP38Ptcn20eJpL3TZ1xZsMZTr/s320/background+set+up.jpg" style="cursor: hand; height: 182px; width: 320px;" /></a><br />
<br />
Place a box/stand where you are going to place your figure at least 30cm from the background. This box stand should be as high as the 2 small lamps you are going to use, better if taller.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEheod-d1mdESkRDJKw_L2B51Gtx0I0nq3JpzZNW-FD1FZqGhWUNvoHYDykEmaaj_R2_dAx9HhgvTxIMT_RXIZV_o2UYEJ0NUPIfdelpDPupGa8CZpg5om_eDpRXrNwaoea8UUOH3vLts6O9/s1600/pic1.JPG"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5531933063602719058" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEheod-d1mdESkRDJKw_L2B51Gtx0I0nq3JpzZNW-FD1FZqGhWUNvoHYDykEmaaj_R2_dAx9HhgvTxIMT_RXIZV_o2UYEJ0NUPIfdelpDPupGa8CZpg5om_eDpRXrNwaoea8UUOH3vLts6O9/s320/pic1.JPG" style="cursor: hand; height: 320px; width: 240px;" /></a><br />
<br />
Now the set up of the lights:<br />
<br />
As a general notes, I use very cheap ikea lamps, I haven’t spent more that 40 euros for all the 4 lamps. I use, for the main lamps, 30W energy efficient bulbs with 6400k light temperature (they are equivalent of 100/150W incandescent lamp), normal 25w lights for the small lamps.<br />
<br />
Place the 2 table lamps, 45° in front of the figure and at 45° angles from the top of the figure, again the following drawing should explain better.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgvY2K4Okj3MMTkNr-M3FNV6egYTCg2vxVXk4VlJwghT8w4b5Dr8NV2QrA7lf02xm3ZJ-3PdCsKkwgZVGDA-lAD0QDgzRBESjQstApHzWUQWhD1djOFl3tKum0uipbK1sG3HwJxgzVoY9fR/s1600/photo+set+up.jpg"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5531933483827289890" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgvY2K4Okj3MMTkNr-M3FNV6egYTCg2vxVXk4VlJwghT8w4b5Dr8NV2QrA7lf02xm3ZJ-3PdCsKkwgZVGDA-lAD0QDgzRBESjQstApHzWUQWhD1djOFl3tKum0uipbK1sG3HwJxgzVoY9fR/s320/photo+set+up.jpg" style="cursor: hand; height: 294px; width: 320px;" /></a><br />
<br />
Also place one or two piece of the oven paper in front of the lamps, to soften the light.<br />
<br />
Now place the 2 small lights on the back of the stand resting on the table and pointing towards the background, they should light the bottom part of the background and give a gradient tone to it.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_o4Dy1a7GdNSjFaSzADE8Kze7zv9PS4YlhRb6URliJAnpdzcBCfWLEWP09LL5Jew0jaLkBlV0HXH9RdShARWLJMshReh91K1s5b4qcgh3yGFtT-URHMtbCtMByxntOQqfCa9q6aSD4iMd/s1600/pic2.JPG"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5531933799133463778" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_o4Dy1a7GdNSjFaSzADE8Kze7zv9PS4YlhRb6URliJAnpdzcBCfWLEWP09LL5Jew0jaLkBlV0HXH9RdShARWLJMshReh91K1s5b4qcgh3yGFtT-URHMtbCtMByxntOQqfCa9q6aSD4iMd/s320/pic2.JPG" style="cursor: hand; height: 240px; width: 320px;" /></a><br />
<br />
The gradient tone is a nice touch, look at the following picture, bare in mind that the backgroud is a piece of black cloth, see how nice id the gradient effect with the small lamps on.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfT1iFFxdIZfewrsAgi1Wt_aaHMHWXN1uiwrU0LAIY0DEPFc82USASkOuIwlJUICBHtCrmi2SQ2fJ5oj9odA1wpYixLrUrmph1LWYqb54cuN0cjyI1AnlIGkqx5dpuqKee7MetHWpAOTnr/s1600/DSC_0299.jpg"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5531934766670424770" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfT1iFFxdIZfewrsAgi1Wt_aaHMHWXN1uiwrU0LAIY0DEPFc82USASkOuIwlJUICBHtCrmi2SQ2fJ5oj9odA1wpYixLrUrmph1LWYqb54cuN0cjyI1AnlIGkqx5dpuqKee7MetHWpAOTnr/s320/DSC_0299.jpg" style="cursor: hand; height: 320px; width: 214px;" /></a><br />
<br />
That’s it, place the camera in front of the subject, choose a stop above f.18 and shoot; because the exposure time will be long, better if you use a remote control to shoot, if you don’t have one, no worries, just use the self timer.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiM7ofT7DAaM4OUkc3z6FlHuPPAb_4rpdr_G9P8_P9iadJACNFtSBsXYfzrXYOiqPmpH5FVRBMGsfuAiesYe_6Tk1RvctTNs2vZQUPPihOs9YTxc4Ne6123AYlspGVb5mTkKdt3KMjGs9-l/s1600/DSCN1302.JPG"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5531935420042024242" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiM7ofT7DAaM4OUkc3z6FlHuPPAb_4rpdr_G9P8_P9iadJACNFtSBsXYfzrXYOiqPmpH5FVRBMGsfuAiesYe_6Tk1RvctTNs2vZQUPPihOs9YTxc4Ne6123AYlspGVb5mTkKdt3KMjGs9-l/s320/DSCN1302.JPG" style="cursor: hand; height: 240px; width: 320px;" /></a><br />
<br />

<br />
You can adjust the exposure compensation value, if you notice that the picture is too dark or to light, usually I adjust mine to -1.3 but you need to check with your camera/lens/lights.<br />
<br />
Take as many pictures as you can, every time take notes of stop, exposure etc.etc and check which one is better, if yur camera allow it, save these settings so you can reuse it in the future.<br />

The reason for was my own way of painting with very diluted color while adding glaces to shade or highlight anything. Sure, tehre are several ways of painting this or taht, but if you re using veeeeeery diluted paint you need a lot of time and patience to see results. My intention was to get smooth blendings. But it took some time.<br />
<br />
On my ork I swear to myself that I am going to be more brave, using thicker colors all over to safe some time which I could use to practice some new techniques.<br />
<br />
Enough words are spoken, let me show you my colorful progress on the Squadron Commander:<br />

<br />
Since I`ve realised that I am not able to finish my planned project until German Games Day 2011 I deceided to start with a smaller one.<br />
<br />
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">Stefan send me some minis as a birthdaypresent back in April. Beside some orknobz and other nice minis there was a very special miniature. It`s the limited Ork Aqwadron Commander from ForgeWorld. Such a cool mini! So I am going to paint this single miniatue as my entry for my first ever competition.</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />

My big brain (maybe talking about a large amount of air in my head ;) told me to add a parachute behind the ork. So it will look like he just landed and is calling for reinforcement to smash pointy ears.</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">Before I am working directly on the abse some testing had to be done. Mixing some PVA glue with water to let a handkercheif drain full of it. This was simple put on a testing-surface to see how folds are going to be and how it dries later tio be ready for some pimping and painting.</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><em><span style="font-size: large;">"Ladiez an' gentlemen, please fasten ya seatbelts. We'z going to 'ave sum turbulences..."</span></em></div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">Sadly it took 2 full days now and it`s still a little bit wet. But the result is nice so far. I hope it will get as hard as I imagine, otherwise it would be a challenge for me adding some patches & rough seams to the parachute.</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />

<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">Today I want to introduce you a piece with the title "<em>my best work!!!!!!!!!</em>". I am not sure if this is serious, but this man has discovered a unique way of painting minis. Just click on the picture to reveal the secret of his technique:</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i774.photobucket.com/albums/yy28/Sleipnir1985/Cabinet%20of%20horror/bestwork.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" target="_blank"><img alt="Best work cubed" border="0" height="320px" src="http://i774.photobucket.com/albums/yy28/Sleipnir1985/Cabinet%20of%20horror/best20workpixel.jpg" width="238px" /></a></div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />

</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">As you all know converting miniatures makes them to single-pieces all over the world. Some people are more skilled then others, but most of the time you could at least imagine what the person was aiming for. The following picture shows you something I would identify as a chaos spawn, but I am totally unsure if even this is the right name for it. Maybe some of you are able to tell me, what this is:</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />

Or at least a miniature with details that are battle hardened. Or at least a miniature that got some beaten stuff at the base. Ah, you get the point!<br />*At least two paint pots with different colours obviously(although id prefer some more for shading/highlights…) to use with brush or airbrush.<br />*A cheap crappy brush you’ll never use again<br />*Masking fluid<br /><br /><br /><div>Here is my damaged piece; an ork waaagh-banner that need some beating. Image shown below shows it with a basecoat of boltgun metal 100%.<br /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 300px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 399px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd288/steulf/warhammer/nobz/4th/1.jpg" />Added some Bestial brown, dark flesh, scaly green and black using a kind of rough feathering/glacing technique, every brushstroke hasn’t have to be perfect as most of it will be overpainted anyway. You don’t really have to make any shading at all at this stage at all, as both the main colour and the damaged areas can with advantage be shaded together instead. more important is that you get the highlight the way you want it before using the fluids, this is because the different types of area most certainly need different colours for highlight.</div><br /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 300px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 488px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd288/steulf/warhammer/nobz/4th/4.jpg" /><br />Masking fluid, i use W&N brand, cost about £3-4 and shoud be included in every orklovers home. mask the areas that are battledamaged. Just randomly dot it on chaotically and it will be fine.<br /><br /><br /><div>use one old worn out or really cheapa$$ brush, the fluid ruins it in no time! </div><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 447px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd288/steulf/warhammer/nobz/4th/5.jpg" />After the fluid have dried, which shouldn’t take long – like a minute or so, repaint the banner. try to get a really thin layers of paint (or even better – use an airbrush..). Otherwise the masking will be very hard to remove.<br /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 300px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 502px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd288/steulf/warhammer/nobz/4th/6.jpg" />The masking is removed with a rubber or a "hard" brush and tweezers. try not to get too violent when removing it… it can be a little frustrating at times but I should be removed pretty easy if the above layer is thin. It can be nice though if you try to remember just about where you put the most liquid so you know “where to dig…”<img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 300px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 517px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd288/steulf/warhammer/nobz/4th/7.jpg" />Full glory pic. i paint a really thin white line beneath the damaged areas to get a more "3d" effect of the damage. Also, some additional weathering will make it even better.<img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 598px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd288/steulf/warhammer/nobz/4th/8.jpg" /> Here's an image of the finished model with the banner, not the best photos but yeah...<br /><a href="http://www.coolminiornot.com/250103">http://www.coolminiornot.com/250103</a>SkelettetShttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16785571906568126407noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4594441345515861699.post-938841127563013102011-06-15T07:12:00.003+02:002011-06-15T08:02:51.013+02:00basework<div>Some smaller updates of the ogryn base. went for a trenchy no-mans-land kind of base for this guy, im probably going to add lost of mudd and dirt later. at least it didnt get too small :)</div><br /><div></div><br /><br /><div>The mini itself is actually well casted, especially in comparison to the latest so-called "finecast" miniatures. just a big miscast below the over arm, but no problem filling that with some milliput. otherwise, just some broken and bent spikes, as always when its Forgeworld. <br />
After a meeting with a friend to paint some hours together I know some things I have to improve.<br />
<br />
First of all: I am painting with too thinned color. So my layers are tending to get chalky. The brighter the color the more chalky it was. So, 2nd thing I ve learned: Be brave and paint with thicker colors man! <br />
<br />
After trying to add several layers of dark flesh to maulkgs hands I ve given the wetblending a try. Since I am not very familar with this technique I have to learn it. The result is satisfying, at least in my eyes ;)<br />
<br />
I am trying to let maulg interact more with the base. He`s more implemented now. Still have to work a lot on him. But he`s slowly getting more and more color.<br />
<br />
Do I ve told you that I love this mini?! Yes, I do!<br />
<br />
Here`s the current status. Please excuse the bad pictures. Next time there will be better ones!<br />

As you can see he`s lost his orange touch. He also has got some more shades with a dark green. Looks much betetr now I think.<br />
<br />
Pictures are not the best as the red is very hard to catch with my camera. Have to find the best settings for it first.<br />

Yes, 2 updates in a row. I am in writing-mood at the moment. <br />
<br />
Some things happened during my last and this post. On last Saturday i was invited to take part on a painting-day by some new friends i knew from Das Bemalforum. Beside seeing beautiful painted miniatures i ve got a lot of feedback on my previous work and my current WIP. <br />
<br />
They ve showed me how to wetblend. A technique i ve never used before. Sure, i ve read some tutorials about it before, but whenever i ve tested this the result was horrible. After they told me what i have to do exactly this technique doesn t seems to be so bad.<br />
<br />
After some tests on the beast you ve seen in my previous posts i ve started to work on a New one with the New learned technique. Here s the result:<br />
<br />
<a href=http://s774.photobucket.com/albums/yy28/Sleipnir1985/Ogryn%20Beast%20Handler/?action=view¤t=IMAG0073.jpg target=_blank><img src=http://i774.photobucket.com/albums/yy28/Sleipnir1985/Ogryn%20Beast%20Handler/IMAG0073.jpg border=0 alt=></a><br />
<br />
As you can see i ve tried to blend from a strong pink over grey / rosa and purple into darkgrey for the deepest areas. Not easy... If i d more experienced in werblending it could have been a successful try. But... As you See my blending is far away from beeing soft.<br />
<br />
Next step? Painting Beast number 3.<br />
<br />
I ve schossen a more classic colortheme for him. In my opinion it s much easier to wetblend dark colors into each other. Look at this:<br />
<br />
<a href=http://s774.photobucket.com/albums/yy28/Sleipnir1985/Ogryn%20Beast%20Handler/?action=view¤t=P1050699.jpg target=_blank><img src=http://i774.photobucket.com/albums/yy28/Sleipnir1985/Ogryn%20Beast%20Handler/P1050699.jpg border=0 alt=></a><br />
<br />
He s far away from beeing finshed, but i get a feeling for how to mix colors on a mini. And i think thats all that counts, right? Learning New techniques in this hobby is very excited!<br />
<br />
Before going crazy i started with my beloved King Maulg. I was talking of Santa in the topic. When you See the pictures below you know why.<br />
<br />
It s hard for me to catch the color as it is. Please be kind and regard that the colors you ll See are not doing justice at all. Maybe a sentence minipainter saying quite often, but you can believe me: it s the first time i am saying that!!<br />
<br />
<a href=http://s774.photobucket.com/albums/yy28/Sleipnir1985/King%20Maulg/?action=view¤t=IMAG0103.jpg target=_blank><img src=http://i774.photobucket.com/albums/yy28/Sleipnir1985/King%20Maulg/IMAG0103.jpg border=0 alt=></a><br />

<br />
There are several ways to do so. Some fluids I ve tested worked, some not. And some destroyed the minis... :( So, let me tell you how I am stripping resinminis.<br />
<br />
First of all i ll start with a list of things you need:<br />
<br />
1. Orange Terpen from Schmincke (it s the worlds best brushcleaner!)<br />
2. An old toothbrush<br />
3. Some protecting glasses<br />
4. Any kind of cup<br />
5. A miniature you want to free from the paint<br />
<br />
<a href=http://s774.photobucket.com/albums/yy28/Sleipnir1985/Resin-Tutorial/?action=view¤t=P1050714.jpg target=_blank><img src=http://i774.photobucket.com/albums/yy28/Sleipnir1985/Resin-Tutorial/P1050714.jpg border=0 alt=></a> <br />
<br />
STEP 1<br />
<br />
Fill a little bit of the Orange terpen in your cup and gently dip the brushes of your old toothbrush. Be careful and just dip the brushes into it, otherwise your toothbrush will look like this:<br />
<br />
<a href=http://s774.photobucket.com/albums/yy28/Sleipnir1985/Resin-Tutorial/?action=view¤t=P1050704.jpg target=_blank><img src=http://i774.photobucket.com/albums/yy28/Sleipnir1985/Resin-Tutorial/P1050704.jpg border=0 alt=></a> <br />
<br />
STEP 2<br />
<br />
Now you can pick up your mini and brush all over it. You ll see how the paint is getting fluid immidiatly. Just brush all over until it s clean. You could use an old brush with a tough point to reach areas you can t reach with your toothbrush.<br />
<br />
Make sure to protect your eyes from the sprinkles caused by brushing the mini. The Orange terpen is acid for your eyes!!<br />
<br />
<a href=http://s774.photobucket.com/albums/yy28/Sleipnir1985/Resin-Tutorial/?action=view¤t=P1050713.jpg target=_blank><img src=http://i774.photobucket.com/albums/yy28/Sleipnir1985/Resin-Tutorial/P1050713.jpg border=0 alt=></a> <br />
<br />
STEP 3<br />
<br />
Finally you just have to wash your stripped mini with some soap and water. Now it s ready to be primed again :)<br />
<br />
Before:<br />
<br />
<a href=http://s774.photobucket.com/albums/yy28/Sleipnir1985/Resin-Tutorial/?action=view¤t=IMAG0075.jpg target=_blank><img src=http://i774.photobucket.com/albums/yy28/Sleipnir1985/Resin-Tutorial/IMAG0075.jpg border=0 alt=></a> <br />
<br />
After:<br />
<br />
<a href=http://s774.photobucket.com/albums/yy28/Sleipnir1985/Resin-Tutorial/?action=view¤t=P1050716.jpg target=_blank><img src=http://i774.photobucket.com/albums/yy28/Sleipnir1985/Resin-Tutorial/P1050716.jpg border=0 alt=></a><br />
<br />
<a href=http://s774.photobucket.com/albums/yy28/Sleipnir1985/Resin-Tutorial/?action=view¤t=P1050715.jpg target=_blank><img src=http://i774.photobucket.com/albums/yy28/Sleipnir1985/Resin-Tutorial/P1050715.jpg border=0 alt=></a>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4594441345515861699.post-14097573328032950232011-05-29T14:33:00.004+02:002011-06-07T16:31:43.635+02:00Rats! #2So, main body of the last one packmaster is more or less finished, i might add another highlight to the faces of the tiny winy mice the crawl on his body, was just about when the little monster woke up again, my son Gabriel (8 months) has a very effective anti-hobby sensor built in his body. gah! ;) their faces are so small and not super casted, but i try to make them look decent.<br />
<br />
these pictures make the piece little justice, but better than the last ones at least...<br />

Fortunately, you can do some pretty awesome deals when shops sell out their stash of confrontation miniatures. I was lucky when I found out the Swedish site “figurspel.se” was selling out their stuff for 2 euro/blister! I probably found out too late cause most of the coolest miniatures were long gone (dirz, mid nor etc) but at least I could grab on to a lot a goblin miniatures. Some of them are pretty “meh” but other like the psychomutants and this xherus dude made it all worth it by far!<br /></div><br /><p align="center"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGgHfKfcehn1fBJmuAMjpNNyWyHs45ZYvpz-MNLIrgncDwj814esAd51BrL-W65N3a9AVaZKNc-xl-8LdMmGVV3nnIckW3Vb5rTLtcZD3M_l8JPQlPcm0J3JDx3gzu93q7inr49z8A4Rw/s1600/goblin.JPG"><img style="WIDTH: 400px; HEIGHT: 300px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5610891644646242450" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGgHfKfcehn1fBJmuAMjpNNyWyHs45ZYvpz-MNLIrgncDwj814esAd51BrL-W65N3a9AVaZKNc-xl-8LdMmGVV3nnIckW3Vb5rTLtcZD3M_l8JPQlPcm0J3JDx3gzu93q7inr49z8A4Rw/s400/goblin.JPG" /></a></p><br /><div>I also picked up my next project after the last rat is finished, a copy of the new plastic mordor troll. This is going to be victimized of my first oil colour tryout, and hopefully be decent enough to also bring to the gamesday. Im a little bit disappointed by the lack of options I might add, but I still think it’s a cool miniature.<br /></div><br /><p align="center"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhu1a3qqylN-m-6tKfxwAdbciD081ScWePheXrxQpuCB3fmjpPTzYLNoETayYpuclUBr2IkUe6q-fxZIp4dGDBTPTzfDFVyLeIcjW5uTy8zdYVM4sQOJ2i-vyRV7TKh2ATZXSUueTEFp6Y/s1600/sprue.jpg"><img style="WIDTH: 400px; HEIGHT: 300px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5610892087312963682" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhu1a3qqylN-m-6tKfxwAdbciD081ScWePheXrxQpuCB3fmjpPTzYLNoETayYpuclUBr2IkUe6q-fxZIp4dGDBTPTzfDFVyLeIcjW5uTy8zdYVM4sQOJ2i-vyRV7TKh2ATZXSUueTEFp6Y/s400/sprue.jpg" /></a></p><br /><div>Hopefully there will be some time for painting soon, currently my work and lack of free-time is putting sticks in the wheel effectively. </div></div>SkelettetShttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16785571906568126407noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4594441345515861699.post-10853677721748055342011-05-25T08:41:00.000+02:002011-05-25T08:41:19.428+02:002nd tryAs mentioned in my last post I ve started to shading the beasts head. I ve deceided to part thje mini in several areas so I don`t have to paint everything at once just to recognize later, that I ve missed to paint a detail here and there.<br />
<br />
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><a href="http://i774.photobucket.com/albums/yy28/Sleipnir1985/Ogryn%20Beast%20Handler/IMAG0042_edit0.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; cssfloat: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200px" src="http://i774.photobucket.com/albums/yy28/Sleipnir1985/Ogryn%20Beast%20Handler/IMAG0042_edit0.jpg" t8="true" width="179px" /></a>I ve spend about 1 hour just with adding grey grey grey and even more grey to the recesses. Maybe a mistake, or just a waste of time... because the result looked like I ve used a simple wash all over! This is something I could see as "learning by doing"! </div><br />
But where you ll find shadow you re also able to find some light! So I ve worked out the highlights in the color of the absecoat again. Suprise! Now it looks like a mini. Still not finished the highlighting process, there are also some colored washes missing. But those will follow when I ve finished first highlights to get backl the shape of his head.<br />

</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;">Someone in a forum I am visiting told me to add some purple washes to his mouth / tongue. And another person mentioned that the teeth are a little bit too monotone. So I ve worked on both parts till I was satisfied with the result.</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

<br />
I am not heading to just share all my successful painting with you, so here`s soemthing that went wrong. *sigh* There are always things which doesn`t look like you ve imagined first. I guess everyone knows this kind of problem. First we`re trying to correct little mistakes, but what are u doing if it`s totally different to what you was aiming for? Right, you ll add a new basecoat and start over again! That`s what I ve done recently, and even the 2nd try misslucked somehow. But I ll try to correct it to not add a 3rd basecoat. I m afraid of losing details.<br />
<br />
Mixed together a basecoat for my 1st ogryn chaos beast. As you can see on the following picture it s a very bright purple. I was wondering. Just mixed some VMC Scarlet red with VMC Ghost grey. I thought it gives me a lightly warm, bright grey. But... pruple? Anyway, used this mixture to see what ui can get out of it. Here`s the result:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i774.photobucket.com/albums/yy28/Sleipnir1985/Ogryn%20Beast%20Handler/IMAG0038_edit0.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="270px" src="http://i774.photobucket.com/albums/yy28/Sleipnir1985/Ogryn%20Beast%20Handler/IMAG0038_edit0.jpg" t8="true" width="400px" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Hmm... don`t looks good. It`s far away from what I imagine with an albino. So it`s the wrong color. Next basecoat please...! And in my rage of painting I ve added first shades before taking a photo for you:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i774.photobucket.com/albums/yy28/Sleipnir1985/Ogryn%20Beast%20Handler/IMAG0040.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="238px" src="http://i774.photobucket.com/albums/yy28/Sleipnir1985/Ogryn%20Beast%20Handler/IMAG0040.jpg" t8="true" width="400px" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I have the feeling that simply using VMC Ghost grey without any additional color could fit. Working out shadows with different colours, preferable blue, purple and red could give me the skintone I want. But... blue seems to not be the right decission. This evening I ll add harsh shadows with ghost grey + brown and grey to smooth those out. Highlights will follow too. When this is done color comes into the game. Adding some high diluted washes to get the look I want here and there. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Wish me luck! I ll kepp you up to date.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4594441345515861699.post-849531199405222622011-05-23T10:55:00.005+02:002011-05-23T11:06:12.387+02:00Rats!<div align="left">The beginning of the end, here are some wip shots of the last packmaster in my rat ogre regiment for German GD this year. photographing is far from perect but you get the idea anyway. im going for a "realistic" look but using bright colours, the unit is dominated by purple and magenta colours.</div><br /><div><br />the face is rather brigtht to get the attention, but i might tone it down a bit after the whole piece is finished. also some light osl will be added from the jewelry around his neck.</div><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEguQpqV7FtlrR2QG2wdX67VRwFVSIZ9nMHLsqtdLIyNfXnhyphenhyphenDNuEmVHRtRc7P5d7n-xBJa9ntQK5QVeNSjsdwdM6OqLSPxc-jMFGt89yOUrVl0BJWp0MMKhb4ge-G3-0XQDLXQJp0COSCA/s1600/3.jpg"></a></div><br /><p align="center"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmUi3cbLIlYH79JFlA0FKp2WmkygTU6a6eU_vxWONGa0ktuX_GDtQ2V3xzD2Gf6qEcbW_kMdq1J2zzHr6YeT6FbpO8HaKc-RLXW02w9a-Vh9rShAP2zIKke5eJp2juCGya4yoK9orpUf8/s1600/1.jpg"><img style="WIDTH: 400px; HEIGHT: 370px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5609834478348858162" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmUi3cbLIlYH79JFlA0FKp2WmkygTU6a6eU_vxWONGa0ktuX_GDtQ2V3xzD2Gf6qEcbW_kMdq1J2zzHr6YeT6FbpO8HaKc-RLXW02w9a-Vh9rShAP2zIKke5eJp2juCGya4yoK9orpUf8/s400/1.jpg" /></a></p><br /><p align="center"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7mdaQXAIeVoTNu-cjHXOSHsAFQHgsNsi6Ir07twWtdF-E5hTIz5X6ixO-xvuXGvie-p8Q5CsKSElsEUfk5LoLvB21DcwQ5THXbi_tQ4Dszdgv1liFIBSm8w8YHWTh9OCAJVnzcujXsPU/s1600/2.jpg"><img style="WIDTH: 353px; HEIGHT: 400px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5609834630419835090" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7mdaQXAIeVoTNu-cjHXOSHsAFQHgsNsi6Ir07twWtdF-E5hTIz5X6ixO-xvuXGvie-p8Q5CsKSElsEUfk5LoLvB21DcwQ5THXbi_tQ4Dszdgv1liFIBSm8w8YHWTh9OCAJVnzcujXsPU/s400/2.jpg" /></a></p><br /><p align="center"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEguQpqV7FtlrR2QG2wdX67VRwFVSIZ9nMHLsqtdLIyNfXnhyphenhyphenDNuEmVHRtRc7P5d7n-xBJa9ntQK5QVeNSjsdwdM6OqLSPxc-jMFGt89yOUrVl0BJWp0MMKhb4ge-G3-0XQDLXQJp0COSCA/s1600/3.jpg"><img style="WIDTH: 399px; HEIGHT: 400px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5609834928444348562" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEguQpqV7FtlrR2QG2wdX67VRwFVSIZ9nMHLsqtdLIyNfXnhyphenhyphenDNuEmVHRtRc7P5d7n-xBJa9ntQK5QVeNSjsdwdM6OqLSPxc-jMFGt89yOUrVl0BJWp0MMKhb4ge-G3-0XQDLXQJp0COSCA/s400/3.jpg" /></a></p>SkelettetShttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16785571906568126407noreply@blogger.com0
